Harris Middle School

Welcome to Harris

Welcome to Harris Middle School, home of the Hawks! At Harris, we believe that with hard work, there are no limits. Middle school is a time of tremendous growth and discovery, and our students are encouraged to challenge themselves, explore their interests, build meaningful relationships, and become more confident and independent learners.

Our educators are committed to high levels of learning for every Hawk while recognizing that each student brings different strengths and needs to the classroom. Through academics, fine arts, athletics, leadership, clubs, and hands-on learning opportunities, students have the freedom and support to discover where they shine.

What Makes Harris Special

Find Your Place

There's more than one way to be a Hawk. Students can explore their interests through athletics, fine arts, robotics, UIL, leadership organizations, clubs, service opportunities, and more. Middle school is the perfect time to try something new, develop a talent, or discover an interest that may continue through high school and beyond.

A Community Where You Belong

We want every Hawk to feel welcomed and connected. Our Junior Student 2 Student (JS2S) program helps new students transition into the Harris community and has earned Purple Star recognition for its support of military-connected students and families. Throughout campus, we work to create an environment where students know they have a place and people ready to support them.

Growing the Whole Student

Success is about more than academics. From our student-maintained organic garden to our annual Wellness Festival, Harris provides opportunities that encourage students to think about their physical, social, and emotional well-being while learning responsibility, collaboration, and care for their community.

Hawks Today. Mavericks Tomorrow.

Harris is a true feeder to Madison High School, giving students something especially valuable during these transitional years: continuity. The friendships students form and the interests they develop through band, choir, orchestra, athletics, theatre, speech, debate, and other programs can continue with them into high school. That connection allows Hawks to use middle school as a launchpad—exploring opportunities now and entering Madison with familiar faces, established interests, and greater confidence. With Hard Work, There Are No LimitsAt Harris Middle School, we are dedicated to helping every student recognize their potential and develop the skills to pursue it. By combining high expectations with meaningful opportunities, strong relationships, and a supportive community, we prepare Hawks to enter high school ready to take on new challenges and continue discovering just how far they can go.

One building

Harris is all one building, which is great when it is raining, cold, and of course, for safety reasons!

Garden

Harris has an organic garden with many classes that maintain it throughout the year.

Motto

“With hard work, there are no limits”

Wellness Festival

Each year, we host a festival that focuses on different types of wellness.  This is a fun activity for our community to participate in, but also informative!

True Feeder to Madison High School

We are true feeder to Madison High School, which means that all of our students who have Harris as a home campus feed directly into Madison High School.  This is wonderful when you think about programs like band, choir, orchestra, athletics, speech, debate, theatre, etc.  The friends that Hawks make at Harris will continue with them through high school!

Greenback Night

Our PTA hosts our Meet The Teacher/Greenback Night every year.  This event is always help the 2nd Tuesday of September and is a great time to welcome our new families to our Harris community!

Robotics

Our Robotics Team consists of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders who love a challenge and love to solve puzzles.  All are welcome to participate in this afterschool team (you do not need to be in the Robotics class to be a member of the team, though it could be helpful).

JS2S

Our Junior Student 2 Student group has received the “Purple Star” distinction.  This group serves to welcome new students to campus, with a focus of supporting our military families as well.
